If you're single and want to claim a star while it's still on the rise, then you need to be following the path of the Bigger Bang as it blazes around the world. The single performers are plenty among the married and engaged ones, and you could be their next muse.
Though there are plenty of single stars on the tour, two that stand out the most are Marat Novikov of Open///Close and Elyse Hawkins of the Magnetic Roses. Both appeared to be on the prowl during the tour's brief break in Tokyo, as they wandered through the party district, building a small entourage as they moved from bar to bar and nightclub to nightclub.
Both Hawkins and Novikov have a reputation for flirting with everyone, which could possibly make it harder for you to tell if they're actually interested in you, but wouldn't it be worth it to find out?
There are just a few rules though, if you want to get with either of these musicians, or any other, for that matter. You definitely don't want to crash and burn before you even get started. So let's go over some basic rules for dating a rock star.
You must support them. You must support their music. You must support their band. You don't even have to like their music, and you don't need to become a walking billboard. However, you should get used to talking them up at any given moment, and never speak an ill word against them to anyone, specifically not your significant other.
2. Proper Show Etiquette
If you are welcomed to the backstage area to wait in the wings, do so quietly and do not get in the way. There are people working where you are. If you get in the way of just one roadie, you could completely interrupt a delicately timed stage set-up and ruin your significant other's show. Likewise, do not shout, "That's my man!" or "That's my baby momma!" No one cares. And no matter what, if drinks are served, do not allow yourself to become a wasted mess. No one will take care of you.
3. Modest Muse
Accept that he or she may write songs about your personal lives. Those songs will then be sung to masses of people who don't know you and don't care to. Your deepest romantic moments and most insane freakouts will be captured in song and described to strangers. Get used to it, but don't get a big head about it either. Absolutely no one needs to be told, "This song is about me!" Additionally, they may write songs about past loves. You are not the first person they fell in love with, and if you're being honest with yourself, you might not be the last.
Do not expect to be invited on tour. That doesn't mean it can't happen, just don't sit around with your suitcase already packed. Your rock star sometimes barely has time to eat when on tour, let alone devote time to you. Now, if they are in a band that travels by private jet or bus, has plenty of roadies, catered meals, and stays in five-stars hotels, you might be able to tag along.
If your significant other wants you around, rest assured it's because they want you around. Other people may approach them and throw themselves at them, but at the end of the night, they are going home or back to the hotel with you. And if they're not, then maybe they're not the kind of person you want to be exclusive with anyway. Remember, the groupies are obsessed with the image of your rock star. He or she shows their true self to you.
Do not, under any circumstances, discourage your partner or try to talk them out of the band. Particularly, do not give them any ultimatums to choose between you or the band, because you will find yourself single. If they told you to stop painting or playing football or making films or working out or teaching or whatever it is you do, how long would it be before you told them to take a hike? Exactly. The moment you even suggest that your partner leave the band, you become enemy number one.
There is one exception: When jamming is just an excuse to be a drug addict.
If you think you've got what it takes, maybe we'll see you along the road!
